Sheriff’s office makes narcotics arrest

Former Alabama resident faces drug charges

PIQUA — On Wednesday, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office detectives executed a search warrant at 608 ½ W. North St., Piqua, involving narcotics trafficking.

At this location, detectives seized cocaine, drug paraphernalia and approximately $3,000 in U.S. currency, according to Miami County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dave Duchak.

Taken into custody without incident was Kendrick D. Watkins, 40, formerly of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Watkins was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail and charged with felony trafficking cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Duchak.

Watkins was arraigned Thursday morning on those charges. Watkins continues to be held at the Miami County Jail on a total of $37,000 bond.
