PIQUA — The following are highlights from the Piqua police reports. All information is provided by Piqua police reports and Miami County Municipal Court records.
TRESPASSING: There was a report of a vehicle that had been rummaged through on W. North Street overnight between Aug. 2-3. Nothing was reported missing.
There was a group of people found in a park in the area of S. Sunset Drive and South Street after hours on Aug. 4 at 2:49 a.m. “They were found to be playing Pokemon Go. They were warned for trespassing,” according to police reports.
THEFT: Cash was reported stolen from a vehicle on W. North Street overnight between Aug. 2-3.
A lawn mower was reported stolen from an unlocked shed on Blaine Avenue sometime between July 10 and Aug. 3.
A female subject was reportedly caught shoplifting at the Miami Valley Centre Mall on Aug. 3 at 4:30 p.m. Truptikumari J. Patel, 29, of Piqua, was charged with theft in connection with this incident.
There was a report of a male subject taking $50 from a residence on South Street on Aug. 3 at 11 p.m.
A cell phone was reported stolen from a vehicle on N. Main Street on Aug. 4 at 9:30 a.m.
LOST PROPERTY: A subject reported a wallet as lost or stolen while shopping at Jo Ann Fabrics on E. Ash Street on Aug. 3 at 5 p.m.
HIT SKIP ACCIDENT: There was a report of a hit skip accident in the area of E. Ash Street and Scott Drive on Aug. 3 at 6 p.m.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE: There was a report of a possible hit skip accident on Industry Park Drive on Aug. 3 at 8:11 p.m., but it was unclear if the damage was caused by another vehicle or not.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT: A woman at a residence on Manning Street was asked to leave and warned for disorderly conduct on Aug. 4 at 9 a.m.
There was a report of a male subject urinating on the sidewalk on N. Main Street on Aug. 4 at 11:40 p.m. An officer checked the area, and no one was located.
There was a report of an elderly male exposing himself on Young Street on Aug. 5 at 1:30 a.m., which led to an unrelated disorderly conduct arrest. Tasha M. Carnes, 30, of Piqua, was charged with fourth-degree misdemeanor disorderly conduct after being warned.
A subject was reportedly found stumbling on the sidewalk on E. Ash Street on Aug. 5 at 2:20 a.m. The subject was almost home, so he was allowed to go home.
MENACING: A male subject reportedly made threatening remarks to city workers over the phone on Aug. 4 at 9:10 a.m.
ASSIST SQUAD: An officer stood by while a squad attended to a two-year-old who ran into a door at McDonald’s on E. Ash Street and had some minor injuries on Aug. 4 at 11:38 a.m.
SUSPICIOUS: A complainant reported that “a male creepily took her license plate down, then shut the door of his apartment” on Country Club Road on Aug. 4 at 7:20 p.m. An officer attempted to make contact with the male subject, who did not answer his door. According to police reports, “Complainant was advised that although it was creepy, it was not illegal. Advised to be cautious in the area.”
There was a report of a suspicious male subject possibly getting into cars on E. Greene Street on Aug. 5 at 1:45 a.m. No one matching the suspect’s description was found.
STOLEN PROPERTY: A male subject was reportedly seen on a bicycle that was reported stolen approximately two months ago. The subject reportedly abandoned the bicycle by throwing it in the bushes on Cleveland Street and running away from the area on Aug. 4 at 8:30 p.m. Roger Jenkins, 51, of Piqua, was charged with fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal trespassing and receiving stolen property in connection with this incident. A warrant for his arrest was requested.
DRUG OFFENSE: Larry M. Napier, 33, of Piqua, was charged with fifth-degree felony possession of drugs on Aug. 2.
