PIQUA — Florist, decorator, wedding and party specialist — there are many ways to describe Crystal’s Creations and many ways owner and designer Crystal Shubert aims to meet one’s floral and decor needs.

“The majority of what I do is for weddings,” Shubert said.

Shubert started Crystal’s Creations while working from home in January 2014 as a single mom. She completed work as it was requested and it slowly grew from there. Before Crystal’s Creations, Shubert worked at different floral shops, learning from a designer.

“I can do everything you can get from a regular florist,” Shubert said.

For floral arrangements such as bouquets, she hand-picks the flowers at the wholesaler. “I basically want to tailor everything to the style of the person,” Shubert said.

Shubert’s arrangements can also come in the form of silk arrangements, wreaths, ceiling draperies, and more. Recently, Shubert designed and arranged a tree centerpiece for a Sweet 16 party. She also creates boutonnières, corsages, and other arrangements for proms and homecomings, as well as decorations for the home.

“There’s very few things I wouldn’t be able to do,” Shubert said, explaining that if a customer approached her with a design arrangement or decoration idea, she could find a way to make it happen.

Customers can also rent some items from Crystal’s Creations that they may not want to invest in entirely for a wedding or party, like lanterns, wood slabs, wine bottles, and other wedding decor.

Shubert also receives orders for funeral services, saying that she puts her entire heart into making those floral arrangements just right to honor the memory of the person who passed away.

“I really strive for absolute perfection in everything I do,” Shubert said.

Shubert explained that she also keeps the costs as low as possible to be affordable for clients since what drew her to the business was the clients themselves.

“I absolutely love people,” Shubert said.

Shubert’s business hours at her downtown location at 124 W. Water St. are from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays through Saturdays, but she makes appointments at anytime.
