Troy teams sweep Miami County Invitational

TROY — The Troy boys and girls track and field teams swept the Miami County Invitational Tuesday.

Boys team scores were Troy 192.5, Miami East 125, Tippecanoe 106.5, Covington 83, Milton-Union 54, Piqua 42, Newton 36, Bradford 27, Bethel 26.

Winning for Miami East was Justin Brown, high jump, 6-0; the 800 relay, 1:36.61; and the 3,200 relay, 8:43.68.

Winning for Covington was Jett Murphy, pole vault, 13-6; and the 1,600 relay (Zane Barnes, Brandon Magee, Jayce Pond, Nathan Lyle), 3:36.83.

For Piqua, Andy Mayse won the 400, 52.75; while Tristen Cox won the discus, 128-6.

Girls team scores were Troy 203, Tippecanoe 111, Covington 109.5, Miami East 108, Bradford 38.5, Milton-Union 38, Newton 35, Bethel 33, Piqua 14, Troy Christian 4.

Breanna Kimmel led the Buccs, sweeping the 100, 13.31; and 200, 26.76.

Also winning for Covington were Natalie Snyder, 100 hurdles, 17.61; Anna Dunn, 3,200, 11:44.66; the 3,200 relay (Paige Boehringer, Dunn, Ashlyn Plessinger, Carly Shell), 10:09.60; and the 1,600 relay (Rayna Horner, Plessinger, Tori Lyle, Kimmel), 4:14.65.

Winning for Miami East was Lindsey Yingst, 2,000 steeplechase, 8:47.0.

Winning for Bradford was Maia Stump, long jump, 15-10.

Ashley Ho led Piqua, winning the high jump, 5-0.

COLDWATER — The Versailles boys and girls track teams swept a dual with Coldwater Tuesday.

The boys won 83-54.

Josh Steinbrunner swept the 100, 11.99; and the long jump, 18-5.

Also winning were Noah Waymire, 1,600, 5:31.09; Cory Rose, 400, 54.11; Joe Spitzer, 800, 2:10.10; Adam Huelskamp, 200, 24.02; Nick Slonkosky, high jump, 5-4; Luke Shellhaas, pole vault, 12-6; AJ Ahrens, shot put, 41-8-14; the 1,600 relay (Trevor Noggle, Jacob Rose, Mitchell Huelskamp, Cory Rose), 3:51.69; and the 3,200 relay (Noah Pleiman, Mitchell Paulus, Brooks Blakeley, Stuart Baltes), 9:00.08.

Versailles girls won 96-34.

Camille Watren swept the 200, 26.90; and 400, 61.60; while Jenna Frantz won the long jump, 15-6; and pole vault, 12-0; and Lindsey Didier doubled in the shot put, 28-9; and discus, 102-0.

Also winning for Versailles were Ellen Peters, 100, 13.21; Hannah Rose, 1,600, 6:24.28; Kara Spitzer, 800, 2:43.12; Jorja Pothast, high jump, 4-6; the 1,600 relay (Emily Langenkamp, Kari Mangen, Rose, Danielle Winner), 4:40.57; and the 3,200 relay (Spitzer, Mangen, Langenkamp, Megan Rismiller), 10:53.05.

GREENVILLE – The Piqua boys tennis team lost 5-0 to Greenville Tuesday.

In first singles Greenville’s Noah Haupt beat Tyler Lavey 4-6, 7-6, 6-1. In the second singles match the Green Wave’s Craig Manges beat Josh Hanes 6-1, 6-2. In third singles the Wave’s Quintin Muhlenkamp swept J.J. Rohrbach 6-0, 6-0.

In first doubles Greenville’s Alex Lance and Tyler Davis beat Brendan Tisher and Sean Hatke 6-0, 6-3. In the second doubles match Austin Grote and Josh Smith beat Emily Williams and Brad McPherson 6-1, 6-2.

Piqua fell to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the GWOC North.
