COLUMBUS – It wasn’t the start the three Versailles wrestlers were

looking for at the 79th Annual OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament in the

Jerome Schottenstein Center, but all three advanced to the second day

of the tournament with wins in the wrestle-backs.

All three Tigers wrestlers came up short in their opening round

matches as Tanner Bey dropped a 7-0 decision to Brendan Fitzgerald of

Grandview Heights at 138 pounds, Corey Dieringer fell to Drake Barnett

of Galion by the score of 6-2 at 160 pounds and Kyle Gigandet was

pinned by Paul Skye of Mogadore at 195 pounds.

Corey Dieringer then was the lone Tiger wrestler to advance with a win

in the first consolation round. He defeated Manuel Garza of Rittman by

the score of 11-5.

Tanner Bey dropped a 6-0 decision to Hugo Villerreal of Gibsonburg to

end his junior season with a 44-12 record, while Kyle Gigandet fell to

Toronto’s Drew Lowery to end his senior season at 43-11.

Dieringer will be back in action in the second round of consolations

at 12:30pm.
