SIDNEY — A number of local wrestlers advanced on to the Division III district tournament from the Lehman Catholic D-III sectional over the weekend.
Versailles finished second in the team standings behind Mechanicsburg with 205 points, Covington was third with 171.5, Miami East was fourth with 155 and Lehman was 11th with 47.
The Tigers advanced nine wrestlers on to the district meet.
Winning for Versailles was Kyle Gigandet (195).
Taking second were Corey Dieringer (160), Jonathan Moorman (170) and Jerome Bey (182).
Finishing third were Jacob Poling (106) and Tanner Bey (138), while finishing fourth were Preston Platfoot (120), Steven Mangen (126) and Jacob Rismiller (220).
Covington advanced eight wrestlers to district, led by sectional champion Brandon Magee (182).
Taking second were Jared Ford (126) and Ryan Ford (138).
Finishing third were Connor Ryan (113), Coleman Ryan (120) and Seth Thomas (220), while taking fourth were Gage DeHart (152) and Lance Miller (160).
Miami East is sending five wrestlers to district, including three sectional champions.
They were Graham Shore (113), Alex Isbrandt (126) and Ben Ferguson (285).
Taking third were Zane Strubler (132) and Dalton Loughman (195).
Lehman’s lone district qualifier was Wyatt Long (182), who finished fourth.
The district tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at Hobart Arena, with the top four in each weight class advancing on to the district tournament.
