Lehman boys lose to Bluffton

BLUFFTON — The Lehman Cavaliers dropped to 4-16 on the year after losing on the road to Bluffton, 74-35, in non-league boys basketball action Saturday night.

The Cavs return to action tonight at home against Triad.

Bluffton bolted to a 22-10 lead after a quarter, but the Cavaliers stormed back to pull within 32-27 at the half, outscoring the hosts 17-10. But Bluffton exploded for 29 points in the third quarrter to open up a 61-35 bulge, then held the Cavs scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Lehman was led by Kam Lee with 11 points.

Newton boys

WEST MILTON — The Newton boys basketball team defeated Milton-Union 55-46 Saturday.

Newton will open Troy D-IV sectional play against Catholic Central at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Jets stun

East boys

SIDNEY — The Fairlawn Jets notched one of their most impressive wins of the season, handing Miami East a 65-59 setback in a non-league matchup of backyard rivals Saturday night at Fairlawn in high school boys basketball.

Miami East will play National Trail at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Belmont D-III sectional tournament.

Damien Mackesy scored 17 points for Miami East, while Brandon Mack added 12.

Bucc boys

COVINGTON — The Covington boys basketball team lost to Anna 49-35 Saturday.

Trevor Miller and Nathan Blei scored 13 points each for the Buccs.

Covington will open D-IV sectional play at 8:30 p.m. Saturday against Botkins.

Pre-sale tickets will be available beginning Wednesday at Covington High School and Joanie’s Floral Designs.

Tickets will be on sale at Joanie’s Floral Designs until noon Saturday.

All pre-sale tickets are $6. Ages 6 and over/or first grade and up need tickets.

All tickets at the gate will be $7.

Houston boys

beat Bradford

HOUSTON — The Houstn boys basketball team got past Bradford 55-40 Saturday in non-conference action.

Both teams open Piqua D-IV sectional play Friday.

Bradford will play Russia at 5:30 p.m., while Houston will play Mississinawa Valley at 8:30 p.m.

Domyneik Phipps led Houston with 16 points and Zach Jolly scored 14.

Drew Patty led Bradford with 13.

MARIA STEIN — Russia posted a 60-57 win over Marion Local Saturday night in non-conference action.

Russia will open Piqua D-IV sectional play at 5:30 p.m. Friday against Bradford.

Tigers boys

lose finale

VERSAILLES — The Versailles boys basketball team finished the regular season 16-6 after a 66-53 loss to Greenville Saturday night.

The Tigers will open Belmont D-III sectional play at 5 p.m. Saturday against Arcanum.

Justin Ahrens had a big game Saturday for Versailles with 34 points.
