spring awards

Coaches at Lehman Catholic recently handed out awards to their athletes as each team met for a recognition night at the close of the spring athletic season.

In baseball, MVP honors were shared by junior Nathan Bosway and senior Greg Spearman. Senior Cole Proffitt received the top pitcher award and junior Max Schutt was named top defensive player. Senior Austin Arnold received the varsity coaches award and sophomore Brandon Simmons won the JV coaches award.

In softball, seniors Brooke Jones and Ava Schmitz shared the MVP award. Sophomore Sidney Chapman received the award for the highest batting average. The coaches award went to freshman Maddy McFarland.

In tennis, senior Sam Dean was named the MVP. Sophomore Jake Earhart received the most improved award. The varsity coaches award went to freshman Griffin West and the JV coaches award to junior Malachi Bezy.

In track, freshman Alanna O’Leary was named the girls track MVP and senior Mitch Slater was named the boys track MVP. Junior Kassie Lee received the girls field MVP and senior Ben Montgomery the boys field MVP. Coaches awards went to two freshmen — Alvaro Barrera and Alanna O’Leary.

Brandon Hostetter and Jeff Jennings tied for second with 36.

The Grand Lake Fall League is taking registrations for the 2015 Fall League.

The fastpitch softball league will be divided up into three divisions this year: 9-12, 6-8, and 3-5.
