TIPP CITY – Covington saw its season end in the opening round of the sectional tournament on Tuesday as it dropped three straight sets to #7 seed Springfield Central Catholic at Tipp City High School.

“We committed way too many errors against a good team,” said a disappointed Covington coach Lonnie Cain. “We didn’t play nearly to our potential.”

The scores for each set were 25-15, 25-12 and 25-12 in favor of SCC, who advances to play #17 seed Xenia Christian on Thursday in the sectional semifinal round.

For Covington, Rachel York recorded 10 kills, while Arianna Richards led the Lady Buccs with 13 assists. Richards also had 1 kill and 2 aces.

Brooke Gostomsky had 2 kills and 1 assist, while Legend Patty and Bre Dieperink recorded 2 kills a piece.

Covington’s final record for 2015 campaign finishes at 9-13.
