SIDNEY — Defending D-6 state champion Minster upped its record to 2-0 on the season with a second straight win, this one over the Lehman Cavaliers at Sidney Memorial Stadium Friday night, 31-13.

The Cavaliers, now 0-2, kept the ball for 10 plays to open the game, but came up empty. Minster, however, didn’t find the endzone until just one second remained in the opening quarter, on a 12-yard pass from Josh Nixon to Jacob Dues.

Minster shut down the Cavalier offense, but Lehman did a good job of keeping the Wildcats off the board until a field goal by Jason Schulze just before the half for a 10-0 lead.

Minster then came out and scored on its first three possessions of the third quarter to open up a 31-7 lead with 10:47 remaining in the game. Nixon scored on a 4-yard run, Jacob Stechschulte on a 5-yard run, and Bryce Schmiesing on a 14-yard pass from Nixon.

Lehman’s scores came on a 1-yards run by Jake Earhart, and a 10-yard pass from Stephen Monnin to Dylan Arnold.

Lehman hosts Graham next Saturday, and Minster is at Coldwater Friday.
