The Russia boys golf team edged Lehman Catholic 175-178 at Shelby Oaks Golf Course Thursday.

Individual scores were not available at press time.

Gullett crushes

long drive

The Piqua boys golf team held their Drive-A-Thon fundraiser last month and Derrick Gullett won with a drive of 277 yards. The golf program would like to thank Thoma Jewlers for the donation of a trophy and the many community members who sponsored our golfers.

Piqua drops

two matches

The Piqua boys golf team dropped two matches recently.

The Indians lost to Arcanum 172-189 Monday at Beechwood Golf Course.

Kyle Ingle led Piqua with a 46.

Other Indian scores were Derek Jennings 47, Aaron Davis 48, Derrick Gullett 48, Brennan Hicks 51 and Kody Poling 51.

On Wednesday, Piqua lost a GWOC crossover match with Springfield 179-183 on the front nine at Echo Hills.

Jennings led Piqua with a 42 and Ingle had a 44.

Other Piqua scores were Davis 48, Hicks 49, Gullett 50 and Gavin Strevell 65.

Piqua is 0-2 and will host Sidney Wednesday.

Cotner takes

medalist honors

MINSTER — The Versailles boys golf team defeated Minster 177-200 in MAC action Wednesday at Arrowhead Golf Course.

Kyle Cotner was match medalist and led Versailles with a 41.

Other Tiger scres were Nicholas Litten Stonebraker 43, Griffen Riegle 44, Jacob Watren 49, Michael Hemmelgarn 55 and Connor Custenborder 61.

Houston boys

take second

SIDNEY — The Houston boys golf team took second in a tri-match at Shelby Oaks Tuesday.

Team scores were Fairlawn 174, Houston 197, New Knoxville 206.

Houston’s top four were Zach McKee 46, Tristan Stangle 48, Nick Shoemaker 51 and Zach Freytag 52.

Lady Tigers

lose close one

WEBSTER — The Versailles girls golf team lost a close match to Minster 193-194 in MAC action Wednesday at Stillwater Valley Golf Course.

Maddie Covault led Versailles and was co-medalist with 45.

Other Versailles scores were Lauren Heitkkamp 49, Lauren Durham 49, Jorja Pothast 51, Morgan Heitkamp 55 and Morgan Barlage 79.

East girls

bounce back

ENON — The Miami East girls golf team rebounded from its first loss of the year by playing its best round of the year, defeating Greenon 189-225.

Kiera Fellers had a career-low 41 to earn medalist honors and lead East.

Other Viking scores were Haley Howard 46, Megan Pettit 51, Megan Thompson 51, Emily Rowley 59 and Maci Krites 69. The Vikings improved to 3-1 on the year.
