Junior Jackie Siefring and senior Tara Snipes — both former Covington High School standouts — helped the Akron women’s track and field teams to the Mid-American Conference title last weekend.
Siefring defended her title in the heptathlon with a 5.613 total.
She tied for first in the high jump, clearing 5-6 1-2; placed second in the long jump, 19-3 3-4; 200, 24.81; and javelin, 127-0 1-4; took third in the 100 hurdles, 14.0; and fourth in the 800. 2:24.67; and shot put, 39-5 1-4.
Siefring also finished second 400 hurdles, 58.43; and seventh in the javelin, 127-9 3-4.
Snipes finished seventh in the 1,500, 4:34.41.

Dawson Hildebrand of Newton and Lindsey Magoteaux of Sidney Holy Angels both had strong showings in the JH state track and field meet.
Hildebrand won the shot put, 50-6 3-4; and finished fifth in the discus, 142-1.
Magoteaux took second in the 100, 12.78; and third in the 200, 26.53.

SIDNEY — Money Concepts Financial Planning Centre of Sidney will be the corporate sponsor of the
Tennis Challenge on Saturday, June 24th at Holy Angels Parish Picnic & Family Festival. The event will begin at 9:00 am on the tennis courts at Lehman High School.
Singles and doubles advanced, intermediate/beginner and 14 and under divisions are planned. The fee will be $10 per player and a can of tennis balls. Awards will be given for the first and second places in each division.
Tennis Challenge winners will have the option to receive a trophy in recognition of their victory, or to share their success by electing a donation to the Holy Angels Parish Picnic.

WEBSTER — The annual GHB scramble will be held June 3 at Stillwater Valley Golf Course.
It will be a 10 a.m. shotgun start, with payouts to top three teams playing best ball, with a meal to follow.
All proceeds go to the George Brading Scholarship Fund.
