Shore, Miller, Bey, Long win D-III sectional wrestling titles

SIDNEY — The Versailles wrestling team finished second at the Lehman Catholic D-III sectional Saturday, while Covington was fifth, Miami East was sixth and Lehman was 13th.

Miami East’s Graham Shore (120), Covington’s Lance Miller (160), Versailles Jerome Bey (182) and Lehman’s Wyatt Long (195) were all crowned sectional champions and 16 other wrestlers moved on to next week’s district tournament at Hobart Arena.

Finishing second for Versailles were Cale Bey (106), Preston Platfoot (126), Tanner Bey (145), Jonathan Moorman (170) and Jacob Rismiller (195).

Finishing fourth were Jacob Poling (120) and Jeffrey Ware (285).

Finishing third for Covington were Dolan Young (106), Riley Richards (126) and Deron White (152), while Kerringten Martin (138) finished fourth.

For Miami East, Kaleb Nickels (113) finished second.

Taking third were Alex Isbrandt (132) and Zane Strubler (138), while finishing fourth were Matthew Welker (182) and Brenden Dalton (220).

The district tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at Hobart Arena, with the top four in each weight class advancing to state.
