The Newton girls soccer team got a first half goal and went on to beat Piqua 1-0.
Chloe Clark came out of the goal to defend a shot and Newton Aliya Stine was able to send the ball past her and it rolled into an empty net midway through the first half for the only goal of the game.
Piqua had a chance to tie it midway through the second half.
Maddie Curtner delivered a perfect free kick and Claire Went was nearly able to head it into the goal, but the ball went just wide.
Piqua, 3-8-1, will play at Greenville Oct. 6.
Newton is also off until Oct. 6, hosting Tri-County North on Senior Night.

The Edison Community College volleyball team will take a record of 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the OCCAC on the road for the next three matches.
Edison plays at Lorain Community College Friday, Sinclair Saturday and WSU-Lake on Monday.
The Lady Chargers are coming off losses to Heidelberg JVs and Owens Community College.
Edison lost to Heidelberg 25-21, 19-25, 25-11, 25-20.
Denise Schwieterman led a balanced hitting attack with seven kills and 14 blocks, while Kasey Helmstetter and Brianna Wells both had seven kills and Erin Metz added six kills and 17 digs.
Tasha Potts led the defense with 22 digs, while Teresa Hess added 15 digs.
Allie Watkins had 18 digs and 13 assists, while Faith Hensley dished out 11 assists.
Edison then ran into a buzzsaw with nationally ranked Owens, losing 25-12, 25-7, 25-17.
Metz had five kills, while Schwieterman and Samantha Vehorn both had one block.
Potts had 16 digs, while Watkins had eight assists and Hensley added four.
The Piqua volleyball team will play at Sidney tonight.
The Lady Indians, 13-5 overall and 8-3 in GWOC North/South matches, lost to Vandalia-Butler 25-8, 25-23, 25-17 Wednesday.
