The Piqua girls golf team evened its record at 1-1 with a 204-212 win over Greenville on the front nine at Echo Hills.

Kelsey Bachman was match medalist with a 41.

Other Piqua scores were Anna Klopfenstein 51, Macey Pruitt 56, Korren Evans 56, Skylar Sloan 57 and Adde Honeycutt 60.

Piqua will host Covington Monday at Echo Hills.

ARCANUM — The Covington girls golf team defeated Arcanum 215-239 in CCC action at Beechwood Golf Course.

Addison Metz was match medalist with 47, shooting her low score of the season.

Other Covington scores were Kelsey McReynolds 51, Megan Aleander 58, Noelle Gast 59, Emily Thompson 63 and Emily Hedrick 73.

“The girls came out ready and played really well,” Covington coach Adam Sweigart said. “Arcanum has a great program and we knew coming in that they would bring their best. We had two team members carding birdies in the round, which is a great thing to see from the girls. Addison (Metz) played an exceptionally well round tonight and was strong with the putter.”

Covington will play Piqua at Echo Hills Monday.

Newton drops

CCC match

GREENVILLE — The Newton boys golf team opened CCC play with a 172-186 loss to Franklin Monroe on the front nine at Turtle Creek Golf Course.

Chet Jamison led Newton and was match medalist with a 38.

Other Newton scores were Grant Bayer 49, Dreew Thiesing 49, Milan Bess 50, Nate Zielinski 52 and Nash Lavy 62.
