WAYNESFIELD — Korbyn Hayslett of Hayslett Racing was back at Waynesfield Raceway this past weekend in his winged Hyper Mini Sprint.
It was the first of two Meet the Drivers nights at the track were the drivers in all classes are interviewed and given time to sign hero cards, t-shirts, etc in the grand stands.
There were 26 mini sprints signed up to race the fast one-third mile high-banked track fighting for one of the 20 positions in the A-Main feature race.
Hayslett would start on the pole out of nine drivers in his heat race. Hayslett pulled away from the field at the drop of the green flag. He kept the lead driving a flawless eight laps, picking up the win and locking a position in the A-Main Feature race.
After the top six positions inverted, Hayslett would start outside row three in the A-Main feature race.
A caution would come out on lap one, with one driver ahead of Hayslett pulling off, a complete restart would now bump him to the second row outside.
Hayslett would hold onto the fourth spot until loosing handle of the car in turns one and two spinning out. Now on the tail of the field in seventeenth position, Hayslett would make it to the back stretch before stalling the car and bringing out the caution again. Track rules require mandatory DNF if a driver brings out the caution twice in one race.
“Not the way I wanted the night to end” said Hayslett of his DNF, “but still exciting to get a heat race win against some of the best mini sprint drivers. I am still learning the track and how to handle the car on the different track surfaces.”
Hayslett Racing would like to thank family and friends that support him from all over and to their sponsors Skinner Powder Coating, Simpson Race Products, 1 Shot Scrap & Recycling, J&T Photos, and R&R Racewear.
