Korbyn Hayslett of Hayslett Racing entered the AMSA Winged Mini Sprint class on opening night of Waynesfield Raceway recently.
This was the first time Hayslett would race his 2013 Hyper Chassis 1000cc GSXR Engine Mini Sprint with the wings on. He would be one of 22 drivers in the class that included 13 rookie drivers.
Hayslett would start fifth and finish fifth out of eight in his heat race. This would place him in the 13th starting position in the feature race. Hayslett gained several positions in between cautions. He was able to break in the top 10 positions before the one-third mile dirt track took a toll on his arms and him having to pull off, not finishing the feature race.
He would end up 16th for the night.
After a rainout weekend, Hayslett was back at Waynesfield Raceway to give this speedy track another shot.
He would enter the Winged AMSA Winged Mini Sprint class along with 16 other drivers.
Hayslett would qualify fifth fastest. This would place him outside pole in his heat race.
After running in the third spot, he would spin out with only two laps to go. Hayslett finished in sixth out of eight minis. Hayslett started 12th in the feature race. Hayslett did his best in handling the loose car and finished the race in 10th.
“It was a great night. I was able to finish the race despite the hard handling car. I am proud of our top 10 finish, we are making progress.” Korbyn said of the night.
