To the Editor:
The Piqua, Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Unit 184-Schnell-Westfall is gearing up for our annual Poppy Days fund drive. The funds raised — all 100 percent — will go to our veterans and their families for such needs as follows: helping with medical bills, housing and utilities. Also, we provide “ditty bags” that contain items like puzzle books, hygiene items, stationery, cards and other comfort items to our nursing home and homebound veterans.
The veterans served are not just American Legion members but any veteran, regardless of age and war era, including active veterans as well. If you need any more information, you can reach Robyn K. Cooper at (937) 773-0165 (we have an answering machine as well). The address to send donations to is: American Legion Auxiliary Unit 184, P.O. Box 552, 301 W. Water St., Piqua, OH 45356.
The 2016 Poppy Days are April 29-30.
