Reece is the best qualified

To the Editor:

As a Republican and a Democrat from opposite ends of the Miami County map, we believe that Paul Reece is best qualified to take command of the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.

Paul Reece’s qualifications are impeccable. He has been a deputy for the Miami and Montgomery County sheriff offices for 25 years as a certified evidence technician, field training officer, undercover agent, narcotics detective, and SWAT/SRT member. A member of Department of Homeland Security, he has received certification at the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training Academy, Weapons of Mass Destruction Advanced Tactical Operations. He is an instructor for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. Reece has been endorsed by several organizations including the Citizens for Community Values Action of Miami County, the Miami County Republican PAC, and is the only candidate to be endorsed by a Fraternal Order of Police organization.

Paul has 19 years of combined military law enforcement service in the U.S. Army and Air Force. As a chief warrant officer, he is experienced in Anti-Terrorism, Counter Intelligence, Counter Surveillance, and Protective Services. Having been mobilized six times (2002-2014) in support of the Global War on Terrorism, he has served with distinction in Afghanistan, Guantanamo Bay, the Pentagon, and numerous locations within the states. Mr. Reece has served as a Special Agent of the Army Criminal Investigation Division Command, providing personal protection for the top seven executives of the Department of Defense and visiting international dignitaries. He has received a BA in Organizational Management from Bluffton University. Reece is currently the Commander of the 375th Criminal Investigation Division, U.S. Army Reserves in Columbus.

His association with the Miami and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Offices, a degree in Organizational Management, combined with his military law enforcement career affords him the knowledge and familiarity of how to extend across county lines to co-ordinate interdepartmental resources to accomplish the protections and services for our citizens.

Questions and concerns of certain current administrators involving office policy, procedures, and operations have come under fire recently, and Paul Reece is the one specific candidate to right this ship. The deputies, detectives, and office personnel will have the trust and transparency of a proven leader they deserve. Paul will restore that same integrity to the citizens of Miami County.

We believe Mr. Reece’s resume qualifies him for the office of Sheriff of Miami County. We hope you agree as well.
