Bob Daugherty returns as Bradford boys cross country coach.
Graduating off last year’s team was Chip Gade.
Returning letterwinners include seniors Rayce Grigg and Nathan Rose.
“I have a young team this year,” Daugherty said. “Of the five boys on the roster, three are freshman and two are seniors. I think I have several boys, including freshman Johnny Fike, who should finish well.
“Of the three freshman, Johnny and Kurt Hoover ran last year and I am interested to see how they do on the 3.1 mile course.
“I expect Rayce (Grigg) to run well this year and Nate (Rose) will once again be team leader.”
Daugherty hopes to be competitive in the team meet and feels Fike has the potential to make it to regionals.
Girls Cross Country
Daugherty is also the girls coach.
Graduating off last year’s team was Molli Lavey.
Regional qualifier Bailey Brewer — Bradford’s first in 10 years, returns for her senior season.
Also back are senior Gabby Fair and sophomore Adria Roberts.
‘We have seven girls on the team this year,” Daugherty said. “Three returning letterwinners, three freshman and a sophomore who took last year off. Two of the three freshman ran for me in junior high and I am looking forward to see how they transition to the longer race.
“Of the returning upperclassmen, I would like to see Bailey be the first runner to advance to state since the program was re-started 11 years ago.
“Gabby (Fair) is a dependable runner, who has run for me since seventh grade and I am hoping that this is her year to shine. Toward the end of the season last year, Adria was running really well and I hope to see her improve as a runner this year and be ready to fill in as a leader next year.”
Daugherty hopes to be competitive in the CCC.
