Staff Reports

Recently, Becca Stiefel of Stif Racing traveled to Waynesfield Raceway Park to compete in the 1000ccc mini sprint class of 28 cars with her Dick’s Paint and Body Shop, KB Machine and Tool, Mark Knupp Muffler and Tire, Doug Mertz- AMSOIL, Aesthetic Finishers, Automotive Armature Works, Advocare by Mindy Chambers,JandT Photos, Red Dawg Racing Supplies, S&H Nerfs, Richard Donnelly sponsored sprinter.

Stiefel’s pill draw would find her starting the third heat from the rear. She would get a good start and good run on the top side of one and two to advance but the yellow would come out before completing a lap bringing it back to complete restart. On the restart she would try the same only to find two cars getting together and wash up the track slowing her up and they would continue with no yellow.

Now with Stiefel running ninth she had to get the move on quick to get into the top five to secure good starting spot in the “A”.

She would be able to get to sixth and come up just short of fifth at the line sending her to the “B” to get another shot a making the show. In the “B” Stiefel would be scheduled to roll off third however coming to the green she would encounter a malfunction and cause her now to start at the rear of the 13 cars and needing to get in top five to advance. A determined little Becca would not be denied taking the checkers in fifth and make the “A”.

Stiefel would roll off for the “A” in the 20 place and would move forward early in the race to be running 12th at the halfway point but would miss her mark on one turn and slide to the rear.

She would be able to get back to 16th to take the checkered flag.

“Tonight was a good field of cars and I wasn’t going to be denied making the “A’. I haven’t missed one yet and don’t plan to start,” Stiefel said. “We tried some new things tonight and learned some things that work and don’t work and I think we can build on this. The track wasn’t bad tonight had big hole in three that would upset the car if you didn’t cross it right. I missed my mark in one that one lap and got into the black and it slid to the top. To me it’s a good night we made the show and the car is in one piece. I would like to Thank my sponsors that enjoyed the night with us for their support.”

Stiefel returns to Waynesfield Motorsports Park on August 16th with racing scheduled to go green at 7 with the non-wing sprints, UMP Modifieds, compacts and trucks.
