The Piqua boys and girls bowling teams lost to Wayne at Marian Lanes.

The boys lost 2,521 to 2,160.

Travis Smith led the Indians with games of 233 and 255. Jacob Ganger added games of 189-195 and Alex Thobe rolled games of 185-197.

“The guys struggled with ball speed and spare shooting tonight,” Piqua coach Jon Allen said. “They missed alot of easy spares at very crucial times tonight. The baker games weren’t up to par as well, again spare shooting was our downfall in baker games as well. We will get back to work on Thursday with alot of emphasis on speed control and spare shooting to prepare for this weekends Team USA tournament.”

The JV boys lost to Wayne 2,105 to 1,718.

Highs for the Indians were Logan Hall with 183 and Kyle Ingle with a 178.

The Piqua girls lost 2,149-1,948.

Hayley Ryan led the Indians with a 414 (193-221), Alaina Mikolajewski had 335 (171-164) and Brooke Kiefer rolled 308 (151-157).

“During the baker games the girls had their season high with a 212 the first game and followed up with a 178,” Piqua coach Craig Miller said. “Most of the girls struggled with the lane conditions a little bit, because this was our first match this season on synthetic lanes. Our team is so used to throwing the ball fast on our older wooden lanes to keep their balls hitting the pocket properly. On synthetic lanes speed kills, so it took a long time for the girls to get adjusted. With the newer format of girls only bowling girls the matches are going at much faster pace and if they do not get adjusted quickly, they will get behind quickly especially against a team like Wayne.”

The girls will bowl in the Team USA tournament this weekend too.
