Restaurant inspections


Restaurant inspections are performed in the county by Miami County Public Health, except in Piqua, which has its own health department. These inspection reports were provided by Miami County Public Health.

April 12

Market Fresh Foods, 301 Troy Pike, Covington — Repeat observation: the physical facilities are not being maintained in good repair. The door to the walk-in freezer is very bent with a large gap at the bottom. The physical facilities must be maintained in good repair. Repair door as soon as possible. Correct By: May 1, 2016.

Speedway, 818 N. Market St., Troy — Critical violation: person in charge did not ensure that employees are informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report information about their health. This is an addition to the food code as of March 1, 2016. Observation: Person-in-charge did not ensure that the facility has written procedures for employees to follow when responding to vomiting or diarrheal events. Observation: Equipment and/or components are not maintained in good working order. The gaskets on 2 doors of walk in coolers are torn. Observed a build-up of leakage from pop boxes in the storage area.

April 13

Chins Ginger Grill, 965 W. Main St., Tipp City — Critical violation: equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are dirty. Observed growth on pop nozzle and inside the ice machine. Corrective Action(s): To prevent contamination, equipment food-contact surfaces and utensils shall be clean to sight and touch. Non-food contact surfaces of equipment are dirty with food debris on handles and shelving. Corrective Action(s): Nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment shall be kept clean.

Improved Order Of Redmen, 103 1/2 E. Main St., Troy — No violations observed.

United Dairy Farmers, 11 Race St., Troy — Critical violation: Person in charge did not ensure that employees are informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report information about their health. Person-in-charge did not ensure that the facility has written procedures for employees to follow when responding to vomiting or diarrheal events. Critical violation: refrigerated, ready-to-eat, TCS foods held refrigerated for more than 24 hours were not properly date marked. Burritos wrapped in paper 4/26 and fresh salads 4/21 were observed. A chart provided by UDF say burritos have refri gerator life of 26 days and salads 11 days. Observed accumulation of soil residue on nonfood-contact surfaces of fans in the walk-in cooler. Critical violation: observed the air gap between a plumbing fixture and a piece of equipment that was not sufficient to prevent back siphonage of contaminated water in the utility sink and 3 tank sink. The physical facilities are not being maintained in good repair. The floor in the stockroom has many broken or cracked tiles.

April 14

25 A Cafe, 1469 S. Co. Rd. 25-A, Troy — Critical violation: Observed food that was not properly protected from contamination by separation, packaging, and segregation. Observed raw meat stored over lettuce in walk-in cooler. Critical violation: Refrigerated, ready-to-eat, TCS foods held refrigerated for more than 24 hours were not properly date marked. Observed chicken salad with date of 4/5 and tuna salad 4/7. Owner states that the dates aren’t correct and weren’t changed when made recently.

Tony’s Bada Bing, 132 E. Main St., Tipp City — There is no test kit available for measuring the concentration of the sanitizer. Critical violation: equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are dirty. Utensils were dirty from day before. Cooking and/or baking equipment is not cleaned at the required frequency. Observed food debris on pizza oven. Critical violation: the handwashing sink was not easily accessible. Many items were found on floor around sink making it inaccessible. The physical facilities are not being maintained in good repair. The floor in food prep area is at bare wood and not cleanable. The floor tiles in the womens bathroom are broken.

April 15

Miami Shores Golf Course, 402 E. Staunton Rd., Troy — Discussed food codes changes with manager.

Rudy’s Dairy Bar, 1125 S. Miami St., West Milton — Clean utensils and equipment every four hours. Discussed food code changes.
