Restaurant inspections


Restaurant inspections are performed in the county by Miami County Public Health, except in Piqua, which has its own health department. Miami County Public Health can be reached at (937) 573-3500, by email at [email protected] or on the website at www.miamicountyhealth.net. These inspection reports were provided by Miami County Public Health.

Jan. 5

Old Mason Winery and Vineyard, 499 S. Iddings Rd., West Milton —Satisfactory at time of inspection.

Jan. 6

Newton Local Schools, 201 N. Long St., Pleasant Hill — Satisfactory at time of inspection. Note: Dishwasher was not operational. Facility using single service items.

Y’All’s Country Club, 190 W. High St., Covington — Satisfactory at time of inspection. Note: only selling pre-packaged foods at this time.

Genesis Healthcare Troy, 512 Crescent Dr., Troy — Satisfactory at time of inspection.

Troy Fish and Game, 2618 Lefevre Rd., Troy — Observed raw hamburgers over hot dogs, raw chicken next to hot dogs in refrigerators. Keeps separated to prevent cross contamination.

Steak n Shake, 1779 W. Main St., Troy — Observed to boxes of salad on floor in walk-in cooler. Keep food stored 6 inches off floor to protect from contamination.

Observed food debris on clean equipment. Ensure all dishes and equipment are cleaned thoroughly.

Observed food debris on floor of walk-in cooler and freezer. Clean more often.

Observed teeth missing on tomato dicer. Replace.

Jan. 7

Tippecanoe Coffee, 22 N. Second St., Tipp City — Observed worker handle sandwich with bare hands. Discussed that gloves must be worn with ready to eat foods to prevent contamination.

Discussed wash, rinse, and sanitize of dishes. Date and use lunch meats, chicken salad, cut lettuce within seven days.

Ginghamsburg United Methodist, 6759 S. County Rd. 25-A, Tipp City — The wash gauge on dish machine isn’t working. Please repair.

Jan. 8

Troy Elks #833, 17 W. Franklin St., Troy — Observed food debris on the bottom of refrigerator in kitchen. Clean often to prevent accumulation.

Discussed reheating techniques when done always reheat to 165F on the stove or oven.

Fletcher Pizza Carry Out, 101 W. Main St., Fletcher — Observed food debris on counters and in equipment. Clean more often to prevent accumulation.

The floors of facility have food debris in hard to reach areas. Clean thoroughly.

Cleaning must be improved in facility.

Jan. 11

Tim Horton’s, 635 W. Water St., Piqua — Violations/comments: Observed container of butter marked “keep refrigerated” at 68 degrees on counter. Keep all TCS foods below 41 degrees to prevent possible bacterial growth. Provide thermometer for reach in refrigerator so its temperatures can be monitored. Spoons and scoops stored in stagnant water. Store dispensing utensils clean and dry; in product with handle extended; in running, draining water.

Garbry Ridge, 1567 Garbry Road, Piqua — Violations/comments: Satisfactory at time of inspection.

Jan. 8

The Salvation Army, 129 S. Wayne St., Piqua — Violations/comments: Satisfactory at time of inspection.

Pizza Hut,1631 Covington Ave., Piqua — The fryer area and the can opener need to be cleaned.

Jan. 7

Papa John’s, 500 N. Main St., Piqua — Violations/comments: Provide thermometer for prep unit so its temperatures can be monitored. Corrected.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, 8756 N. County Road 25A, Piqua — Violations/comments: Date all ready to eat ECS foods, i.e., cut lettuce, cut tomatoes with date prepared. Must discard after seven days.

Jan. 6

East of Chicago Pizza, 1560 Covington Ave., Piqua — Violations/comments: The ceiling is in need of cleaning.
