TROY — If you’re looking for a little rock music to chase away the winter blues, Hobart Arena will have you covered next month.

Arena officials have lined up cover bands The Menus and Stranger Jan. 24, for an evening of music at the historic arena on Adams Street.

Each of the co-headliners have established strong fan bases throughout the Miami Valley and neighboring states with their energetic live shows, and Hobart Arena Manager Ken Siler said both bands have a broad appeal to music fans.

“Based on the following that both bands have generated in this area, this is a show that we have been looking to put together for some time,” he said. “We felt like partnering these two bands together on the same ticket would create a great night of music and fun at a very affordable ticket price.”

Stranger, led by Tipp City resident and vocalist Jeff Stevens, will open the 8 p.m. show and is expected to play some of the 1980s biggest pop hits.

The band, which last performed in Troy during a spring 2010 visit to Hobart, features a set list that ranges from Prince’s “Little Red Corvette,” Kenny Loggins’ “Footloose” and Bryan Adams’ “Summer of ‘69” to Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell,” Tom Petty’s “American Girl” and Tommy Tutone’s “867-5309/Jenny.”

Formed in 1996, the band has opened for several national acts including Rick Springfield, Hall & Oates,” Chicago, .38 Special, Loverboy, Starship and Survivor.

The Menus, meanwhile, will be making its first appearance in Troy. Formed in 1983 and based out of Cincinnati, the band will close out the evening with its own brand of rock cover songs. The band has been known to break out songs by Boston, Van Halen, Journey, The Cars and John Mellencamp, just to name a few.

Tickets are $18 and $12 and are on sale now at the arena box office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to noon the second and fourth Saturdays of the month Tickets also may be obtained online (www.hobartarena.com) or by calling 339-2911.
