Father, son found hanged in backyard of home

TIPP CITY — Tipp City Police Department is reportedly investigating an apparent double suicide of a father and adult son after a neighbor witnessed both males hanging from a tree in the backyard of their home on Sunday.

Miami County Coroner Dr. William Ginn ruled the deaths as suicide by hanging. The incident occured around in the backyard of a home in the 900 block of Westedge Drive in Tipp City.

“They had not been dead for very long when they were discovered,” Dr. Ginn said.

Dr. Ginn said both autopsies will be performed at the Miami Valley Crime Lab in Dayton. Toxicology reports will be available in eight weeks.

A neighbor reported the incident around 1:30 p.m.

According to the 9-1-1 recording, the neighbor told dispatch, “My neighbors hung themselves. They are hanging in the backyard. I don’t know if they are still alive or not.”

According to the police department, more information about the incident will be released on Monday morning.
