TROY —Miami County Prosecutor Anthony Kendell filed petitions with the Miami County Board of Elections on Thursday for the upcoming election.
Kendell was appointed to the position of county prosecutor by the Miami County Republican Central Committee on April 9 and is now seeking to continue the unexpired term of former county prosecutor Gary Nasal, who now sits as a judge in Miami County Municipal Court.
In addition, Kendell said he plans on seeking re-election in 2017 for a full four-year term.
Over the course of his 17 years with the prosecutor’s office Kendell has tried dozens of complicated criminal cases to juries and only lost one of those trials. Those trials include numerous homicide cases, including several aggravated murder, murder and aggravated vehicular homicide cases, as well as several corrupt activity cases.
Before coming to the prosecutor’s office in 1993, Kendell was honorably discharged after serving in the military for six years. He served as the Tipp City prosecutor for 11 years.
Kendell is a graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law and resides in Piqua with his wife and four children.
