TROY — A Troy man who displayed a knife to a cashier before robbing the United Dairy Farmers in Troy in November waived a grand jury’s consideration of his case and pleaded guilty to robbery in common pleas court Thursday.
Lowell McNerlin, 26, was originally charged with aggravated robbery, a felony of the first-degree, but through a plea agreement entered the guilty plea to a third-degree felony charge of robbery.
He remains behind bars at the Miami County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
McNerlin will appear in court Dec. 23 to be sentenced and he faces a maximum prison sentence of five years.
Hours after the Nov. 6 robbery McNerlin turned himself in to authorities in Troy when he contacted them via a telephone call and officers later arrested him at his home.
Police reports state the McNerlin brandished a knife at a clerk and fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
