Heidelberg honors scholar-athletes

TIFFIN, Ohio — A total of 160 Heidelberg University student-athletes were honored earlier this month not for their play on the field but for their achievements in the classroom. The following local residents are among those receiving the Landess Scholar-Athlete Award for the fall semester:

Brandon Magee of Covington, a freshman majoring in Criminology (football)

Vivian Brauer of Pleasant Hill, a sophomore majoring in Education (cheerleading)

Alyssa Crusey of Tipp City, a freshman majoring in Health Science (volleyball)

Tyler Hunter of Tipp City, a junior majoring in Health Science (football)

Jarett Wasson of Tipp City, a junior majoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice (football)

The Landess Scholar-Athlete Award, made possible through a gift from Heidelberg Board of Trustees member Bill Landess, class of 1995, recognizes students-athletes who earn above a 3.0 GPA during the semester of competition. The team trophy for the fall semester went to the women’s cross country team, which recorded a combined 3.45 GPA last fall.

Students make the dean’s list

OXFORD, Ohio — Students were named to the dean’s list at Miami University Regionals for the 2016 fall semester.

The dean’s list at Miami Univeristy Regionals is reserved for students with high academic achievement who were enrolled in less than 12 graded credit hours.

Local students include Clayton Minton of West Milton and Brent Myers of Pleasant Hill.

UF announces dean’s list

FINDLAY, Ohio — The dean’s list for the fall 2016 semester at the University of Findlay has been announced.

Local students include:

Tipp City: Madison Gioiello, Cameron Johnson, Michael Taylor

Pleasant Hill: Trelissa Lavy, Treyton Lavy, Jessica Weeks

Piqua: Emily Mikolajewski

Ludlow Falls: Madison Mollette

Laura: Marina Snipes

Conover: Samantha Trame

To earn this achievement, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
