TROY — Joining the staff at Hobart Institute of Welding Technology is Lou Smith.
Smith will be teaching the skill of welding to students in the Structural Welding Program and in the Combination Structural and Pipe Welding Program.
Lou comes to the Institute with nine years of welding experience. He is a 2003 graduate of Hobart Institute of Welding Technology and will be sharing his education and experience with the students.
He also served in the United States Navy for three years.
“I’m really looking forward to passing on my knowledge and experience on to the next generation of welders,” he said.
Ron Scott, HIWT vice president and general manager, said, “Lou will be a great addition to our staff. He is certainly willing to share his experience and knowledge of welding with others.”
Lou recently relocated from Prattville, Ala., to Piqua, with his wife. In his free time he enjoys fishing, hunting and cheer on Alabama’s Crimson Tide.
