Autism presentation set

PIQUA — April is National Autism Awareness Month. To shed light on this important issue, the Diversity Committee at Edison State Community College has invited Dr. Erendira Garcia-Lopez from the Office of Disability Services at Wright State University to give a presentation titled “Autism Spectrum Disorders and Higher Education.” The presentation will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at 12:30 p.m. in room 456 on the Piqua campus.

Dr. Lopez-Garcia is the associate director of Clinical Training at Wright State University, whose key responsibilities include psychoeducational assessments, providing student supervision for the School of Professional Psychology, and leading the Autism Spectrum Support Program.

Toastmasters to celebrate charter

TROY — The sponsors, officers and members of the Miami County Toastmasters will have a charter ceremony at 7 p.m. April 11 at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, 301 W. Main St., Troy.

Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m.

This ceremony culminates a six-month journey of linking people, the community and area Toastmasters for guidance, direction and involvement. Even more, it highlights the drive of all with the belief that Troy was capable of bringing Toastmasters here again.

Prospective members are welcome to visit meetings as guests. The group meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, Troy.

The benefits of membership of Toastmasters includes:

• Improving speaking, listening, thinking and leadership skills

• Discovering hidden abilities and awakening latent talents

Medicare program offered

BRADFORD — Bradford Public Library will be holding a special educational workshop on the parts of Medicare and type of supplementary coverage.

If you have questions concerning Medicare, you can get answers by attending this event at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at the Bradford Public Library, 138 E. Main St., Bradford, in the Community Room.

The presenter will be Ronald L. Baker, licensed insurance agent. Signing up in advance will assist the library in ensuring there are seats for everyone at the session. Call (937) 448-2612, if you have any questions and to reserve a seat.
