Upcoming Events

• Tuesday, November 10 from 6 – 7 pm. Teen Mentoring for elementary students in the area of reading. Sign-up in advance at 448-2612 so we can be prepared for your child. The Teen Mentoring program will be the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 6-7 pm.

• Saturday, November 14 from 11 am – noon. Darke County American Red Cross Chapter offering its home-emergency “Pillow Case Project” for children ages 6-12. Sign up early at 448-2612.

• Thursday, November 19 – “Kraft Evening with Kathy” – You will be making a replica of a “Frozen ®” wreath.

• Beautiful “Mesh” Christmas Wreath

• Have you seen those gorgeous mesh wreaths in the stores this season? What a wonderful winter or Christmas decorating item this will be! Kathy’s Creations will be hosting a make-it, take-it Mesh Christmas Wreath party on Wednesday, November 19 beginning at 6:30! Come to Bradford Public Library after November 7 to see an example of what you might be creating! The cost is $20.00 for materials and supplies (payable to Kathy Weigandt) and this class is recommended for junior high through adults! Sign-up early – space will be limited! Contact the library at 937-448-2612 to place your name on the list or for more information! Refreshments will certainly be provided! What would a party be without “food?” Class size is limited and the fee will be less than $10. Call 448-2612.

• Saturday, November 21 – “Couponing with Jim.” Come meet our area expert and learn how you can save money by following some of Jim’s ideas! This is just the first class on Couponing from Jim Shoffner! Meet in the Community Room from 11 am – 12:15 pm. Sign-up at 448-2612 so materials can be made especially for you!

• Friends & Volunteers of Bradford Public Library will be meeting on Monday, November 23 at 3:30 pm. We will be brainstorming ideas for support of Bradford Public Library and their activities and collections. We will also be preparing for the December 4-5 Friend’s Craft Fair! Call 448-2612 for additional information.

• The Library will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26. The library will be open for regular Friday and Saturday hours.

• Saturday, November 28, Bradford Public Library is inviting all Lego Lovers and aficionados to help build our Lego Christmas Village and Santa Claus Town. We will have a new building to add this year. All Legos will be provided for this project. Come in anytime between 10 am and 12:30 pm. The second Saturday to help build the Christmas project will be Saturday, December 12 during the same times. This activity is recommended for kids 10 years and up through adults! Yes, we know there are adults who love Legos too! You don’t need to sign up, just come and join in the fun! The village and Santa Town will be displayed throughout the library with the names of our builders! Grab a few friends and come help us get the Library ready for the Christmas Season.

Crochet & Knitting Classes

Learn something new & fun! Come to the Crochet & Knitting classes at Bradford Public Library! They are held every fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The date for November is Tuesday the 24th. You might be an experienced knitter or a brand-new “I just want to learn” crochet individual! You will love the comradery and helpful hands as you create your own knitted or crocheted item! Bring your needles, hook & some yarn and get ready for some expert help and friendly advice! Call the library at 448-2612 for additional information.

Decorating Your Home with Joanie’s Floral Design’s Workshop “Take It with You!”

Bradford Public Library has scheduled Joanie’s Floral Designs for a workshop on Winter and Christmas Home Decorating on Tuesday, December 8 beginning at 6:00 p.m. All participants will create two different decorative items during this session. Live greenery will be used. This session fills up very quickly so call Bradford Public Library right away at 937-448-2612 to reserve your space for this workshop. The cost for instruction and all materials is $25.00, payable to Joanie’s Floral. A minimum deposit of $10.00 must be made at sign-up to confirm your spot. This workshop will take place at The Bradford Community Club on Miami Avenue. Refreshments will be served to all participants!

The Annual Christmas Cookie Exchange at Bradford Public Library will take place on Saturday, December 12 at 11:30 am. This is a fun event for bakers of all ages! Each person is to bring 3-4 dozen cookies to exchange with others. Every person will take home a very tasty variety of different holiday cookies that will be perfect for family gatherings. We will also have a Hot Chocolate Bar to warm everyone up! Let’s all get in the spirit of giving to others and share your favorite cookie recipe. Please bring the recipe to the library and we will copy and create a booklet for all participants. The library will provide plastic gloves and Styrofoam containers for everyone! In addition, there will be raffle items, featuring a beautiful Christmas quilted wall hanging made by Sue Vickroy. You do not have to be a part of the cookie exchange to purchase raffle tickets. An E-Reader Party is scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2015 beginning at 10:30 a.m. If you already have an e-reader, are receiving one for Christmas or are just interested in this new electronic means of reading books, then this workshop is for you. We will personally assist you with whatever E-Reader you have. This event is also for patrons who have Smart phones. Please bring with you the e-reader and a USB cord. Make certain that the device is fully charged. After an initial overview of free E-Books, the group may be divided by what type of device you may have. Light refreshments will be served!
