PHS Class of ‘90 to meet

PIQUA — The Piqua High School Class of 1990 will hold their 25th class reunion on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Level II banquet room of Z’s Sports Bar, 319 N. Wayne St. There is no cost to attend.

Ordering will be from the menu and there will be a cash bar. Desserts also will be provided. A class picture will be taken at 7:45 p.m., so be sure not to miss it!

Bradford BOE seeks applicants

BRADFORD — Bradford Exempted Village School District is seeking interested applicants to fill a vacancy on the school board due to the resignation of Nate Paulus. Residents of Bradford Exempted Village School District who are interested in the vacant seat on the Board of Education should submit a letter of interest to Dawnna Cron, Bradford Treasurer, by noon Friday, Oct. 16. The selected applicant will fulfill Mr. Paulus’ term that expires on Dec. 31, 2017.

The remaining School Board members will interview interested candidates in executive session on Monday, Oct. 19. Adhering to policy, a replacement board member cannot be appointed at this meeting. A special Board of Education meeting will be scheduled prior to Nov. 6, to appoint our new board member.

AED training set

PIQUA — The Piqua Fire Department will be offering an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) class along with training in hands-only CPR on Monday, Oct. 19, from 10-11 a.m. or 6-7 p.m. at the YWCA Piqua.

“Training includes a hands-on demo on how to use and become comfortable with an AED machine. CPR, an American Heart Association lifesaving technique, does not require mouth-to-mouth contact,” said Beth Royer, YWCA program director. “This class does not include certification, but is meant to acquaint participants in using both techniques in case of an emergency.”

YWCA membership is not required to take the class and there is no class fee. Class size is limited so it is recommended that interested individuals sign up early.

Hands-only CPR offered

PIQUA — Lois Shroyer, RN, will instruct students on a new Hands-Only CPR technique developed by the American Heart Association on Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 10-11 a.m. at the YWCA Piqua.

“Interested individuals should sign up for the class session, which is offered at no cost to participants,” said Beth Royer, YWCA program director.

“This class will help individuals increase their knowledge of how to help someone in an emergency situation. This lifesaving technique does not require mouth to mouth contact,” she added.

Dr. Guo joins CNSI

PIQUA — Zhijun Guo, MD, Ph.D., has joined the Clinical Neuroscience Institute (CNSI).

Dr. Guo received his medical degree from Beijing Medical University and his doctorate degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed a neurology residency and had his training in a pain and palliative medicine fellowship both at Ohio State University Medical Center.

PIQUA — The class of 1961 Piqua Central High School is meeting for lunch, Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Buffalo Jack’s restaurant in Covington at 12:30 p.m. Everyone will order from the menu. Spouses and significant others are welcome to attend.
