Teen workshop offered

BRADFORD — Bradford Public Library is hosting its first Teen Workshop of the summer at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 2. Doc Hollan will explore the topic “You Are What You Eat!” with students in grades 6-12. This workshop follows BPL’s Teen Theme of “Get in the Game … READ!”

A game show format will have everyone involved and Doc will be asking some very goofy questions and bringing some really “gross” food along!

‘Portal’ program planned

PIQUA — The Piqua Public Library, 116 W. High St., will offer its next “Portal to Piqua’s Past” program at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, in the library’s Louis Room.

Join Library Director and local historian Jim Oda, who will share the history of local healthcare practitioners and medical venues.

Golf outing set

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton Athletic Department will be hosting the 3rd Annual Newton Golf Outing at Turtle Creek Golf Course in Greenville at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 11th at 8:00am. The deadline to enter is Friday, June 3.

YMCA to host Splash week

PIQUA — The Piqua branch of the Miami County YMCA, 223 W. High St., will be hosting Splash week June 13-17. The program is free and is intended for beginning level swimmers only. It is a water safety program for children who have completed kindergarten through the fourth grade. Registration will close June 9.

Children learn basic swimming skills along with basic rescue and water safety skills. The program will meet for five days during the week and there are two 45 minute sessions, one at 9 a.m. and one at 10 a.m. Registration is limited to the first 20 children who are enrolled for each time slot. Children who attend all five days during the week will be eligible for prize drawings.
