Saturday night event offered
MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA Piqua Branch is offering a Saturday Night Live Event for youth in first through sixth grade. This will be a fun filled night with swimming, gym games, the YMCA Youth Center and a movie. Pizza and lemonade will be served during the movie time at the Youth Center. Drop off begins at 7 p.m. and pick up is at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Local students earn degrees
ASHLAND — Alexander Smith of Piqua and Shannon Riell of Conover were among the students who completed their Ashland University degree requirements following the spring 2016 semester.
Smith will receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree during Ashland University’s spring commencement ceremonies on May 14. Smith is majoring in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. The son of Richard and Tracy Smith of Piqua, he is a 2012 graduate of Lehman Catholic High School.
Riell will receive a Bachelor of Science in Education degree She is majoring in Early Childhood Intervention Specialist. She is the daughter of Bonnie Riell of Conover. Riell is a 2012 graduate of Olentangy High School. Riell is graduating with magna cum laude honors.
Medicare update offered
PIQUA — Victoria Jurovic, an Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) Community Liaison, will present a Medicare Update Program at the YWCA Piqua from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25. The program is free and open to the public. YWCA membership is not required.
Jurovic will answer questions about traditional Medicare, Medicare Advantage (HMOs, PPOs and PFFSs) along with Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D) before the beginning of the insurance enrollment time which is Oct. 15-Dec. 7. The presentation will be followed by questions and answers and, if time permits, a one-on-one time for questions will take place.

Shredding event set
TROY — Are your filing cabinets and desk drawers cluttered? On May 14, the Miami County Sanitary Engineering Department will offer free document shredding service for county residents. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon under the grandstand at the Miami County Fairgrounds, 650 N. County Road 25-A in Troy.
Shredding will be provided by Crowe Shredding, which guarantees confidential file destruction — documents such as bank statements, tax forms and legal documents will be safely and securely shredded. Shredded documents will be recycled. The event is free for Miami County residents, who may bring up to four file boxes of documents for destruction. Residents recycled over three tons of paper at last year’s shredding event.
