Charles and Belva (Draving) Black are celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary. They were married Jan. 31, 1947, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Piqua by the Rev. Paul J. Gehm at 7:30 p.m. A formal reception held in the church social room followed the ceremony.
They are parents of four children, Diana (Craig) Pottorf of Charleston, S.C., Linda (Larry) Weikert of Troy, Kim (Dave) DeLong of Lawrenceville, Ga., and John (Lucinda) Black of Raleigh, N.C. They have 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The couple are long time active members of Piqua Baptist church. Belva is currently involved with the Red Hats’ Scarlett O’Hatters in Piqua and Lydia Circle at PBC. Charles is an active member of Kiwanis Club. Charles retired from LeRoi Dresser Industries in Sidney in 1990. Belva worked as a secretary and receptionist, retiring in 1987.
Belva is 33 days older than Chuck. She was born on Willard Street on May 29, 1927, and Church was born one block away on Leonard Street on July 3, 1927. They met at the Piqua Central High School and were married six months after he was discharged from the U.S. Navy.
