Walking tour planned
PIQUA — Piqua’s neighborhoods were once dotted with corner grocery stores and retail establishments with deep roots in their area. A walking tour from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, will focus on how these businesses impacted their neighborhoods and contributed to the quality of life and social structure of the areas they served. Led by Piqua historian Jim Oda, the tour will begin at Wood and South Downing streets.
Tickets for the tour are $5 and can be purchased at the Mainstreet Piqua office at 326 N. Main St. This project is sponsored by the Piqua Tourism Council with additional assistance from Mainstreet Piqua and the Piqua Public Library. Call Mainstreet Piqua at (937) 773-9355 for additional information.
Edison to host comedy group
PIQUA — Edison State Community College brings Good Ole Boy Comedy to the Piqua campus on Friday, April 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for a night of family fun. This side–splitting performance is open to the community and offered free of charge.
Often compared to the comedic superstars from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, the group’s act is a diverse blend of comedic styling from five hard-working, up-and-coming comedians. The Good Ole Boy Comedy group includes local members, Lucas “Freakin” Williams, Jeff Bartlett, Thomas Gurrn, Darron Docie, and Tim Lucas who have been putting on hilarious shows across Ohio for the last six years.
The event will be held in the Robinson Theater. Seating for the event is limited. Those interested in attending are encouraged to arrive early to reserve a seat. The comedy style is not abnormally over-the-top, but does at times discuss adult situations. For more information, contact Nate Cole by emailing [email protected] or calling (937) 381-1555.
