PIQUA — With health and exercise a growing trend in the area, a new fitness studio is joining the ranks in Piqua. F45 Training, which will be opening next week, has the goal of providing a family-oriented facility that implements specialized training and accountability.

“F45 Training Piqua is the newest, most innovative and functional training facility that incorporates high-intensity workouts in a team envrionment,” said Holly Trombley, who co-owns the F45 Training facility with her husband, Josh Trombley. “What that does is it provides the individual who wants to workout when they show up at a set time on a particular day … they will already a workout that is waiting for them.”

F45 Training began in Australia and has spread to New Zealand, England, United States, Hong Kong, Philippines, and India.

“They’re everywhere,” Trombley said.

Every workout is tested at the F45 Headquarters before it gets released into the market, and there are over 1,500 workouts currently filmed to use in the sessions. The workouts include 10 different systems, changing every day.

“We have trainers on site that lead the training, and they’re there to make sure everyone is doing the workouts safely,” Trombley said, noting that the trainers help motivate and help keep those exercising accountable on what they should be doing.

With that accountability, “we provide that structure that we feel there’s a big need for,” Trombley said.

Each workout session is 45 minutes long, which includes the warm-up, the workout, and the cool-down period. There will be sessions held in the mornings and evenings.

“In that 45 minutes, because of the way that F45 has presented the workouts to the clientele — it’s on an algorithm — no two workouts are ever the same,” Trombley said. “The way that you did the routine that day will never be the same.”

Trombley explained that people are getting results quicker with F45 Training regimens.

“We’re constantly creating muscle confusion for the client that’s working out,” Trombley said. The workouts also alternate between focusing on cardio one day and weight training the next.

The client’s workout ability also does not matter.

“Basically, whether you’re an athlete or you’ve never worked out before, you’re welcomed into the studio,” Trombley said. “We are family-oriented in the sense that students as young as 14 up to senior citizen status could come in and there’s a place for them.”

Trombley emphasized that student athletes can take part in the fitness studio in order to stay on track all year round and in between their sports seasons.

The daily workouts play up on Plasma screens in the facility. Heart rate technology is optional, for those looking to push just that little bit harder. F45 has timing screens built in and has DJ mixes with voiceovers.

“We have equipment that works with our functional high-intensity interval workouts,” Trombley said. “There are weight sizes for everyone based on their needs.”

Trombley and her family are Piqua residents. Trombley has lived in Piqua all of of her life, and her husband has been in Piqua for around 22 years.

“When this presented itself to us this past year, we were struggling with motivating ourselves with working and the with lack of being able to workout together … there was really no place to turn to,” Trombley said.

For Trombley and her family, F45 Training was an “aha” moment due to having a space to be able to workout together as a family and to get the kind of accountability they needed.

Trombley added that their fitness studio is a “very diverse opportunity for the community” compared to what people usually think of as being a gym and is “truly a business that’s in business to help people with their goals.”

F45 Training also provides free nutritional classes.

“If someone’s serious about being healthy, it’s more than working out,” Trombley said. “It has been a lifestyle change for us that we’re excited to be able to have others (obtain).”

F45 Training in Piqua is the largest of the franchise’s facilities in Ohio. There are also F45 Training facilities in Celina, St. Mary’s, and Dublin. The Piqua facility is located at in the Riverside Place Plaza strip near the Miami Valley Centre Mall.

Individuals will need to pre-register and sign in to the session that fits their schedule. Those interested can visit www.f45training.com/piqua for more information. The Grand Opening is set for Monday, April 4, with evening classes set and all future morning and evening classes scheduled. There will be a free two-week trial.
