TROY — Are you looking for a fun and free group activity? Registrations are still being taken for the Family Fun Puppet Fair that is coming to the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center on Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Hayner Center is located at 301 W. Main St., Troy.
All the materials and instruction needed for your family to create and perform your own short puppet play will be provided in this free one-day family workshop. Pre-registration by phone at (937) 339-0457 or in person at the Hayner Center by March 31 is required.
Irene Sheldon Imboden is the instructor for the Family Fun Puppet Fair. Imboden, who holds a bachelor of science in theatre education and an master of arts degree in theatre, has been teaching at Troy High School for 23 years. The morning’s activities begin at 9 a.m. with instruction on creating and performing a puppet play. Each family will then write their play and make their puppets. The Hayner Center will provide drinks for lunch; however, each family is responsible for bringing their own sack lunch. In the afternoon, Troy-Hayner Cultural Center’s ballroom will be transformed into a puppet theatre so groups can share their productions. A cast party celebrating the day’s creative accomplishments will complete this theatrical experience. Participants will take home their play, puppets and lasting memories. Groups of friends are also welcome to participate.
