Information provided by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office:
THEFT: A Monroe Township resident reported that his Discover credit card had a fraudulent charge placed on it from a hotel in Las Vegas. He said that he does and always had possession of the card itself. This charge was being reimbursed and marked as fraudulent by Discover.
ONLINE FRAUD ATTEMPT: A Ludlow Fall resident reported that his computer being hacked. While on a software program called “SKYPE” the resident said he received a message stating if he did not pay $700, his information, photos, and videos on his computer would go viral. He did not believe it was a real threat and disregarded it. He stated the suspect(s) did in fact download his information over the internet on inappropriate sites. He did not know who it was and believed it was someone overseas. He wanted the incident documented.
THEFT OF MEDICATION: A Troy resident called to report that her elderly mother’s prescription medications are missing from the house. She said the pills are placed high enough that her mother cannot reach them. The only other person that has been in the house recently is a home health care technician.
After learning of the missing pills, the reporting party discontinued service with the agency. She gave me the name of that technician and the officer will be contacting her soon for an interview.
JAIL ASSAULT: A deputy was dispatched to the Miami County Jail in reference to an assault. The officer made contact with Lt. Collett, advised an inmate Logan Adams assaulted a corrections officer.
While Speaking to the corrections officer, he stated Logan Adams was trying to cut herself with the edge of the suicide gown. While the corrections officer was making an attempt to retrieve the gown from Logan Adams, she made several attempts to kick him. The corrections officer used multiple strikes to Logan’s arm to free the gown. Logan then punched corrections officer in the right leg two to three times. A copy of the involved correction officer’s reports will be added to the case file and charge.
SEX OFFENDER: A deputy responded to 138 West Dakota Street, Troy, in reference to a sex offender registration violation.
K-9 DETAIL: A deputy had K9 Bear sniff a few items for drugs that were going into the jail at the request of jail administration.
THEFT: A resident in the 9000 block of Bellefontaine Road, New Carlisle came to the office to report a theft of a computer and a fraud.
SRO REPORT: A Milton-Union High School official informed the SRO of a student who threatened to assault another student if he went to lunch today.
MOTORCYCLE MISSING: A Troy resident reported that his motorcycle was taken out of the unattached garage in the 3000 block of Eldean Road, Troy, sometime during the winter months. The motorcycle will be entered as stolen.
