Piqua police reports highlights

PIQUA — The following are highlights from the Piqua police reports. All information is provided by Piqua police reports.

HIT SKIP ACCIDENT: There was a hit skip accident reported on the 400 block of Brentwood Avenue on Feb. 17 at noon.

There was a report of a hit skip accident in the area of South and S. Main Streets on Feb. 20 at 1:18 a.m. The complainant stated that another vehicle hit her vehicle’s rear end and left the scene.

SEX OFFENSE: There was a report of a student sending an inappropriate text message at Piqua High School on Feb. 17 at 3:40 p.m.

SUSPICIOUS: A subject was reportedly looking in the open trunk of a vehicle on the 600 block of Young Street on Feb. 18 at 3:30 a.m. The subject was gone upon arrival, and the trunk was closed upon departure.

THEFT: There was a report of a theft of medication at Kroger, located on the 1500 block of Covington Avenue, on Feb. 18 at 1:37 p.m.

A wallet was reported stolen at Walmart on Feb. 19 between 4:40-5:50 p.m.

Subjects were taken into custody after allegedly stealing merchandise from Walmart on Feb. 19 at 8:48 p.m. Jessica L. Blount, 19, of Troy and Richard A. Ostendorf, 22, of Sidney were charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft in connection with this incident.

Items were reported stolen from a residence on the 6200 block of N. Washington Road on Feb. 21 at 3:26 p.m.

FOUND: A hypdodermic needle was found in an alley behind a residence on the 500 block of W. High Street on Feb. 18 at 6:27 p.m. It was placed in a hazardous waste container to be destroyed.

OVI: Jarrett M. Kerrigan, 24, of Piqua was charged with first-degree misdemeanor OVI after he was stopped in a traffic stop in the area of Park Avenue and Broadway Street on Feb. 19 at 2:15 a.m.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: There was a report of a possible burglary on the 700 block of Willard Street on Feb. 19 between 8:35 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. “The front door to the residence was found to have been damaged,” according to police reports. “The damage appeared to be from someone attempting to break into the house. No entry appeared to be made and no items were reported stolen.”

ANIMAL PROBLEM: A complainant reported seeing a neighbor’s dog attack another dog on the 400 block of Riverside Drive on Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m. Robert L. Shoffner, Jr., 30, of Piqua, was cited with minor misdemeanor dogs running at large in connection with this incident.

WARRANT: There was a report of a woman with an outstanding warrant at the Piqua Senior Apartments, located on the 300 block of N. College Street, on Feb. 19 at 9:40 p.m. Upon arrival, a domestic violence incident was reported. Shellie L. Radcliff, 40, of Piqua was charged with fourth-degree misdemeanor domestic violence and first-degree misdemeanor probation violation in connection with this incident.

DISTURBANCE: A male was reportedly being physical with patrons of Zs Food and Spirits, located on the 300 block of N. Wayne Street, on Feb. 20 at 12:34 a.m. Robert T. Staas, 27, of Piqua was charged with one count of second-degree misdemeanor resisting arrest, two counts of fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal trespassing, and two counts of minor misdemeanor disorderly conduct in connection with this incident.

Teddy S. Righter, 41, of Piqua was charged with first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence in connection with an incident on Feb. 20.

BURGLARY: There was a report of a burglary on the 700 block of Adams Street on Feb. 20 at 2:20 p.m. The complainant reported her washer, dryer, and television stolen.
