PIQUA – At least five vehicles, including a semi were involved in a crash along southbound Interstate 75, approximately one-half mile north of Co. Rd. 25A near the 83 mile marker around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Cars were scattered over nearly a quarter mile stretch as they apparently slid off the highway in an attempt to avoid the initial crash between a semi and two cars.

Piqua fire and medics were dispatched to the scene but no one was transported.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the crashes. Moderate snow was falling across the area when the crashes occurred.

This was one of several crashes reported during the initial phase of the snowstorm which began around 4 p.m.

At least one person was transported from one of the crash scenes with reported chest pains following the crash.

Snow plows and salt trucks from state, county, and municipalities are working to clear highways but they are snow-covered and slippery. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling.
