The crash occurred at the intersection of St. Rt. 55 and Kessler-Frederick Rd. around 6:52 a.m.
Initial reports indicate that the car was westbound on St. Rt. 55, at an apparent high rate of speed, when the driver struck the bus head-on and burst into flames.
The driver of the car was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Several students on the bus suffered injuries, none are thought to be serious. Other students were transported to Milton-Union school to be evaluated. The bus driver was apparently not injured.
Medic units from multiple departments, including Union Twp., Pleasant Hill, and Tipp City responded to assist in transporting crash victims to both Upper Valley Medical Center and Children’s in Dayton.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, along with the Ohio Department of Transportation.
