Robber strikes Ulbrich’s

PIQUA – Piqua police are working a reported armed robbery at the Ulbrich’s store on Wayne Street.

The robbery was reported at 1:54 p.m.

According to Piqua Police Chief Bruce Jamison, the suspect entered the store, displayed a firearm, then handcuffed an employee to a door, before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are searching for a suspect, described a “probably white older male”, approximately 5’8” to 5’10” with a “stocky build.” He was wearing gloves and a “skeleton mask,” along with blue jeans. It is unknown which direction the suspect went when he fled the store.

Jamison said the department is “still gathering evidence” in connection with the robbery and the Piqua police anticipate having video surveillance footage available soon.
