PIQUA — A nearly 10-year-old warrant landed a Piqua man in jail on Christmas, according to Piqua police reports.

Francisco S. Guerra, Jr., 41, was charged with second-degree felony burglary, third-degree felony abduction, and first-degree misdemeanor assault in February 2006. According to police reports, the charges were in connection with a incident in which Guerra allegedly was seen dragging his then-girlfriend down Cleveland Street by her hair.

Guerra reportedly was trying to get the woman to leave a residence on the 300 block of Cleveland Street. The female was refusing to leave. After Guerra had been to the residence a couple times to try and get the female to leave, witnesses stated that Guerra became physical.

One of the residents of the home told Guerra to stay on the porch, but Guerra still reportedly went inside, grabbed the female by her hair, and dragged the female onto the front porch. One of the witnesses stated that the woman had no coat and no shoes on during the incident, and temperatures were around 20 degrees with snow and ice outside at the time.

Guerra then allegedly threw the female off the porch, then pushed her off again when she attempted to get past him. According to Piqua police reports, Guerra allegedly “dragged her south down the street, hitting her in the back of the head” and also “pulled her hair repeatedly.”

After the incident, it was unknown where Guerra was headed. The victim is reportedly now deceased.

Guerra is currently being held at the Miami County Jail on a total of $75,500 cash or surety bond. Guerra was arraigned Monday on the charges and is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 6.
