PIQUA — The following are highlights from the Piqua police reports. All information is provided by Piqua police reports.
THEFT: A black female reportedly shoplifted numerous clothing items from Cracker Barrel, located at 980 E. Ash St., sometime between 3 p.m. Dec. 20 and 3 p.m. Dec. 21.
An unknown male reportedly took a vacuum cleaner from Elder Beerman, located at 987 E. Ash St., on Dec. 22 at 3:43 p.m.
An employee at Elder Beerman reported seeing “a black female and a black male push a shopping cart out of the store and put items in a tan SUV,” according to police reports. The incident occurred on Dec. 22 at 10:20 p.m.
Brye A. Weaver, 36, of Piqua was issued a summons for first-degree misdemeanor theft.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE: There was a report of criminal damage on the 500 block of S. Roosevelt Avenue on Dec. 21 at 12:20 p.m. A vehicle’s rear window was reportedly damaged overnight.
HIT SKIP ACCIDENT: A driver reportedly left the scene of a traffic accident in the area of Canal Run Bike Path and Park Avenue on Dec. 21 at 1:53 p.m. David A. Wilkinson, 47, of Piqua was charged with first-degree misdemeanor OVI in connection with this incident.
An unknown green vehicle reportedly struck a mailbox on the 400 block of Staunton Street and fled the scene on Dec. 21 at 4 p.m.
There was a hit skip accident reported on the 400 block of Gordon Street on Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. There was damage to the left side mirror of a vehicle.
FOUND PROPERTY: A bicycle was found in the roadway in the area of Manier and Blaine Avenues on Dec. 22 at 3:17 a.m.
ASSAULT: A victim claimed that she was assaulted while walking home on the bike path “when two black males and a white male assaulted her,” according to police reports. The incident occurred in the area of Wood Street and S. Roosevelt Avenue on Dec. 22 between 6-6:30 p.m. The victim did not know the alleged attackers and was not able to provide a description.
PROBATION VIOLATION: Elaine V. Werling, 40, of Piqua was charged with two first-degree misdemeanor probation violations and one count of first-degree misdemeanor driving under suspension on Dec. 22.
