Commissioners approve grants

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Commissioners approved grant agreements and amendments, as well as a project change order, at their meeting Thursday.

The commissioners approved an amendment to the Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund grant agreement for the Piqua Power Plant redevelopment project. Because the demolition activity came in significantly under budget, $276,000 will be moved to the infrastructure line item. This amendment will not change the total budget for the project.

The commissioners acknowledged the receipt of a $25,007 grant from the Supreme Court of Ohio. This grant will enable the county to purchase a CourtView eAccess license, which would allow the Common Pleas Court digital docket to be viewed online. It will also allow the Municipal Court to upgrade to the most current version.

The board also authorized a change order for the county courthouse and Safety Building HVAC system upgrade project.

The change order will increase the contract amount by $42,746 for additional work. The remaining contingency allowance for the project is $13,967 and the final contract amount is $4,977,000.

The addition of six variable air volume boxes on the second and third floors of the Safety Building accounts for $31,923 of the increase.

In other business, the commissioners voted to award the Fletcher basketball court improvement project to Wagner Paving at a cost of $10,175. The project is funded by Community Development Block Grant neighborhood revitalization funds.

The commissioners also approved the purchase of a new computer for the Auditor/IT Department at a cost of $1,680 and the purchase of 10 color scanners for the Department of Job and Family Services at a cost of $8,655. The scanners will be used by public assistance caseworkers and are intended to increase efficiency and reduce the amount of copies being made.
