Covington Church to host salad luncheons

COVINGTON — The Women’s Fellowship of the Covington Christian Church will have their next salad luncheon for 2015 on Sept. 18.

We hope you will come and enjoy the large assortment of homemade salads, desserts, finger sandwiches, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Don’t forget our specialty, “Hot Chicken Salad” as well as other desserts, salads and a drink for the small donations of $6.00. Carry outs are available upon request.

The church is located at 115 N. Pearl Street in Covington, is air conditioned and handicap accessible. Come and enjoy food, fellowship and fun!

Remember, Oct.16, 2015 is the final salad luncheon for 2015. On this Friday, we will have our annual “Country Store” filled with homemade, apple dumplings, baked goods, candy and much much more!

Please use the basement entrance in the alley on the north side of the church. We look forward to seeing you on the third Friday of each month through October!

Homemade chicken and noodles, apple dumplings at BikeFest

PIQUA —The chicken is headed for the pot as “chef” Melinda Sillman along with Brad Petry, Dick Harrod and Courtney Petry invite the public to some wonderful food.

St. Paul’s Church of Piqua will once again be selling their famously popular homemade noodles/chicken and apple dumplings during the upcoming Piqua BikeFest on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19.

These tasty foods will be sold as carry-out from the church located at 500 N. Downing Street (use Greene Street entrance) on both days from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will also be sold from the St. Paul’s BikeFest food tent which will be located in the heart of the BikeFest in downtown Piqua.

The cost for chicken and noodles is $4. The cost for apple dumplings is $2.

Yom Kippur

PIQUA — Congregation Anshe Emeth, in Piqua, will be observing Yom Kippur with services on Tuesday, Sept.22, and Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Kol Nidre services will begin on Tuesday night at 8 p.m.

Wednesday morning services will begin at 10 a.m. and afternoon and Yizkor services at 4 p.m.

All services will be conducted by rabbinic intern Tina Sobo.

St. Boniface Parish Oktoberfest

PIQUA — The members of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Piqua, will be celebrating the parish’s German Heritage at its annual Oktoberfest scheduled for Sept. 25-26.

Taking place on the parish grounds, 218 S. Downing, the Oktoberfest will feature a variety of German food, including a cabbage roll dinner, and American food as well as music, raffles, children’s rides, and games.

Oktoberfest hours are Friday, Sept. 25 from 5-11 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 26 from 2-11 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Liberty University’s Main Worship Team – “Sounds of Liberty”

PIQUA — Piqua Baptist Church is pleased to announce that Liberty University’s flagship praise and worship team will be presenting a concert for all ages in the surrounding area. The Sounds of Liberty is coming from Lynchburg, Va. to Piqua Baptist Church on Saturday, Sept. 26 beginning at 7 p.m. for a one-hour concert. This is an outstanding opportunity to hear this group in person. This remarkable worship team performs nearly 100 concerts annually, ministering in some of America’s largest churches and organizational events.

The Sounds of Liberty is made up of 12 musicians and vocalists, in addition to their sound person. They are students at Liberty University who audition annually to become a part of the eight ministry teams sponsored by the university. This concert is free and co-sponsored by the Music Team at Piqua Baptist Church.

The address of Piqua Baptist Church is 1402 W. High St. in Piqua. Refreshments will be served after the concert in a “meet and greet” style! Parking is located at the rear of the church. A nursery will be available for the younger set. A second option to hear Sounds of Liberty is Sunday, Sept. 27 beginning at 10:45 a.m. during the weekly worship service. A love offering will be taken.
