PIQUA — An armed robbery took place at the Dollar General on Looney Road on Sunday. According to Deputy Chief Marty Grove with the Piqua Police Department, a male came into the store at approximately 4 p.m., when he displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect then exited the store with an undisclosed amount of money. He left in a small, black vehicle going southbound on Looney Road.
The suspect is believed to be a white male in his late teens or early twenties. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was reportedly wearing blue jeans, long sleeves, and a black and white ball cap. The suspect was also covering his face with a white bandanna.
There have been no arrests made in connection with this incident, and it is still under investigation.
In an unrelated incident, there was an earlier robbery reported at the Walmart in Piqua on Sunday at approximately 3:30 p.m. There was no weapon used in this incident, but it was reportedly a strong-arm robbery. The suspect attempted to steal items from the store and then reportedly fought with loss prevention associates at the store.
A second-degree felony robbery charge was later filed against Joshua D. Williams, 32. Williams is reportedly at large, and there is a warrant for his arrest.
