Upper Miami Valley Weston A. Price Chapter meeting

PIQUA — The Piqua Nazarene Church will host the Upper Miami Valley Weston A. Price Chapter meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.

Our speaker will be Kellie Valenti on the topic of fermenting foods and how it promotes good gut health. There will be a live demonstration as well as handouts of recipes for you to take home and try. This event is free and open to the public.

We will have a farm market that begins at 6:30 p.m.

Community invited to Free Block Party festivities

PIQUA — Greene Street United Methodist Church welcomes friends, neighbors and the entire community to a celebration of God’s love through worship and a free block party-style picnic on Sunday, Sept. 6.

Worship begins at 10:30. Dress casual, enjoy live praise music, and be reminded that we are all God’s precious children!

Church attendance is not required to attend the block party, which begins at noon Caldwell Street and the Greene Street Church parking lot. The party includes lunch, ice cream from Susie’s Big Dipper, a cake walk, live music and cornhole games. Young children will also enjoy face painting, balloons, a fish pond game with prizes, a bouncy house and a special “make-it, take-it” craft.

There is no charge for this event, and no RSVP is required. Block Party guests are asked to stop by the Welcome Table at the parking lot entrance to pick up food and game tickets. If it rains, the event will be held inside Greene Street Church.

Springcreek Baptist Church 175th Anniversary service

PIQUA — Springcreek Baptist Church is celebrating the church’s 175th anniversary on Aug. 30, 2015 with special services during their 10:30 a.m. worship service. ABC Executive Minister Rev. Dr. Larry Swain will present the congregation with a certificate from the American Baptist Historical Society.

We are inviting all former members and anyone else that would like to learn more about our church to come and help us celebrate this milestone in our congregation’s history on Aug. 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. The church is located at 15333 E. Miami Shelby Rd., Piqua.

FBC 5k set for Sept. 12

TROY — First Baptist Church is holding its annual 5k race at 10 a.m. Sept. 12 at the church, 53 S. Norwich Road, Troy.

This year, the church partnering with the Lincoln Community Center to donate each participant’s entire registration fee to the LCC After School All Stars Program in Troy.
